To choose between them, start with where the room is needed. If your toes are the problem — clawing, overlapping, a bunion joint standing proud — look at the wide toe-box models and the stretch fronts. What should I look for in a shoe if I have neuropathy?
A smooth interior with no seams over pressure areas, a closed back, enough depth that nothing touches the top of the toes, and a fastening you can adjust rather than force your foot into.
How do I check the fit if I cannot feel it properly?
Check by hand and by eye rather than relying only on sensation. Feel inside the shoe before wear and inspect the feet afterwards for redness, rubbing or skin changes. Stop wearing the shoe and seek clinical advice if a mark persists or the skin is damaged.
Can I wear these with a prescribed orthotic?
Yes. Lift the supplied insole out first — that is where the room for the orthotic comes from.
If you have reduced sensation in your feet, see a podiatrist about any break in the skin, new redness or change you notice, and speak to your GP or diabetes care team about a foot check. Footwear is one part of looking after your feet, not a substitute for that care.
